BikeBolts Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 28, 2026

BikeBolts, Inc. (“BikeBolts,” “we,” “us”) provides a catalog of bicycle parts and tools for riders to browse parts, view specs and compatibility, and save parts to lists (the “Service”), available on the web and iOS. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address, name (if you provide one), and authentication credentials. If you sign in through a third party (such as Apple or Google), we receive the information that provider shares with us, such as your name and email.

Content you provide. The Service lets you save catalog parts to lists you create. We store the lists you make, the parts you save, and any names or notes you attach to them. If you use features that accept them, we also store the chat messages you send, voice memos you record (including the audio recordings themselves), and the bike and maintenance records you keep.

Usage information. We collect information about how you use the Service, such as pages and parts viewed, searches, features used, and general interaction data, along with device information such as browser type, operating system, app version, IP address, and approximate (city-level) location derived from IP. To protect the Service from bots and abuse, we use abuse-prevention services (Google reCAPTCHA on the web, Apple device attestation on iOS) that collect device and interaction signals, and we collect app performance telemetry to find crashes and slowness.

Cookies and similar technologies. We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand how the Service is used. We use Google Analytics for this purpose. We do not use advertising cookies or trackers.

Information you send us. If you contact support, report a catalog error, or give feedback, we keep that correspondence.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service, including your account and saved lists.
  • Power AI features. When you use chat or voice features, your messages, recordings, and related records (such as maintenance history) are processed by AI models running inside our cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud’s Vertex AI). Your content is not sent to any other AI provider, and Google does not use it to train its models.
  • Improve the catalog, including using reports of incorrect specs or compatibility to correct catalog data.
  • Understand usage so we can decide what to build and fix, including automated analysis of how AI features are used.
  • Communicate with you about the Service, including transactional messages and, if you opt in, product updates. You can unsubscribe from non-essential messages at any time.
  • Protect the Service, our users, and others, including detecting abuse, scraping, and fraud.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

3. What We Do Not Do

  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We do not share your personal information with advertisers.
  • We do not use the contents of your saved lists, chats, or voice memos to market third party products to you without your consent.
  • We do not allow our AI service providers to use your content to train their models.

4. How We Share Information

We share personal information only with:

  • Service providers that help us operate the Service, under agreements that limit their use of the data to providing services to us. Currently these are: Google (Google Cloud and Firebase — hosting, storage, authentication and sign-in, AI processing via Vertex AI, analytics via Google Analytics, and abuse prevention via reCAPTCHA); Apple (Sign in with Apple and iOS device attestation); Algolia (search — when you search the catalog, your query and your device’s IP address are sent to Algolia to return results); and Neo4j (managed hosting of our parts catalog database).
  • Professional advisors and authorities when required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of BikeBolts, our users, or others.
  • A successor entity in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information until changed with notice.

Aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably identify you (for example, how many riders saved a given part) may be used and shared for any purpose, including improving the catalog and sharing trends with brands and shops.

5. Data Retention

We keep your account information and saved content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within 30 days, except where we must keep it for legal, security, or accounting reasons. Backup copies purge on a rolling basis within 90 days.

6. Security

We use industry standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and least-privilege practices. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can:

  • Access and update account information in the app.
  • Delete your account and associated data in the app, or by emailing us.
  • Request a copy of your data by contacting us.

We respond to requests within the time required by applicable law. We do not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.

Some browsers send “Do Not Track” signals; because there is no common standard for interpreting them, we do not currently respond to those signals.

8. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. International Users

We are based in the United States and process information there. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., you understand your information is transferred to and processed in the U.S.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the Service evolves (for example, when the garage and shop features launch). If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Service or by email before the changes take effect. The effective date at the top always reflects the current version.
